three walls
three walls is a contemporary art venue/roving pop-up space in San Antonio, Texas and has been an ongoing community arm of my work. three walls has presented over 100 exhibitions, performances, and happenings featuring local, regional, national and international emerging, mid-career and established contemporary artists. Press coverage of these events includes Art In America, Art Issues, Art Lies, Art Papers, Glasstire, The San Antonio Express-News and the SA Current. three walls operates on a model that encourages risk and fosters critical dialog within the community and aims to propel artists and their work forward in their evolution and process of discovery.
In 2012, the gallery lost its long-time location at the Blue Star Arts Complex, and found new life and a new direction as a roving pop-up space that takes on special projects. In 2014, Founder/Director Michele Monseau received an Idea Fund grant (re-granting program of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts) to mount an exchange exhibition between three walls and Centro Cultural Border in Mexico City. In 2015, three walls partnered with Habitable Spaces, an artist residency and sustainable farm in Kingsbury, TX. In 2017, three walls partnered with Sala Diaz for the exhibition Under The Gun. In 2018, three walls presents Future Castles by artist Jeffrey Dell at 1160 E. Commerce St; a gorgeous 2200 sq. ft. space located in St. Paul's Square, downtown San Antonio.
